I’m a contemporary jewellery artist and designer based in Vienna, Austria.

Creative and artistic expression have always played a big role in my life, but my passion for contemporary jewellery I only discovered during the last year of my 3D-Design studies at the University of Portsmouth, UK.

After that, I specialised in contemporary jewellery at ALCHIMIA – Contemporary Jewellery School in Florence, Italy with Prof. Manfred Bischoff and Prof. Ruudt Peters.

Since 2009 I’m living and working as a contemporary jewellery artist and active member  of STOSSIMHIMMEL – Atelier for contemporary jewellery in Vienna

  1. Inspiration

I find inspiration in things that we can see but are somehow unobtainable, untouchable, unreachable. I need to materialise my inner landscape into my own imagined reality.

  2. Materials

Balsa wood, an incredibly lightweight and transformable material, mostly combined with recycled sterling silver.

  3. Intuitive carving

My process is very intuitive and I rarely sketch my pieces beforehand. I work directly with the material, with a vague idea in my head. The forms emerge spontaneously while carving the wood.

  1. Start big

I start with a large block of balsa wood from which I carve a rough form that will then be cut into smaller parts, that will be carved again. So my pieces develop simultaneously in small groups.

  2. Layers upon layers

After I create the base in wood, I start applying various paints and materials ( granules, powders, pigments, varnish, leaf metals, etc); layer by layer they grow until they mutate into something else.

  3. Transformation

For me, the material is inspiration and challenge at the same time. I transformed in such a way that it changes completely, until it becomes something else entirely until it becomes jewellery.
